Floor lamp signed Guillerme and Chambron

Superb solid oak floor lamp by Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron, with 4 lights mounted on very beautiful ceramic cups by Boleslaw Danikowski, and 2 integrated shelves (65x28cm) in perfect vintage lines. The light fixture was designed by the French manufacturer Vos Maison in the early 1950s, it is electrified and in perfect working order. The type of wood is solid oak, pretty honey hue, and patina of use for this piece of furniture which is more than 70 years old. The story of Vos Maison begins in 1940 in a stalag in East Prussia... Brought together by the absurd consequences of a war, Jacques Chambron and Robert Guillerme wage a daily fight to live and to preserve what seems essential to them: human dignity. The war drags on. To better cope with the present, they build plans for the future. Then came the post-war years, with the country having to be rebuilt. Chambron and Guillerme resume their former professional activities. Guillerme returned to Lille, in the north of France, to practice his profession as a decorator. Graduating from the 1934 class of the Boulle school, he excelled in architecture and the creation of interior furniture and put his talent at the service of the Rogie workshops. For his part, Chambron, a graduate of the School of Applied Arts in Reims, resumed his activity as a painter-decorator in his Parisian workshop on rue Nollet. In 1948, Jacques Chambron and his family left Paris and settled in Lille. The initial project took shape: Guillerme and Chambron met Emile Dariosecq, owner of a cabinetmaking workshop and in 1949, the Vos Maison company was born. The ceramist Boleslaw Danikowski (1928-1979), after attending the Beaux Arts in Lille, practiced his profession as an art potter-ceramist in a small village in the North of France, and designed the emerald cups which hold the lamps .
