Description
Magnificent and rare vase in flamed sandstone, salted large fire spherical shape, 1920, by roger guerin. Signed and numbered 78/f on the reverse. Very good condition, no cracks or splinter. Blue color with incredible differences in hues due to the salt throws that form the icing. Dimensions height 17cm, diameter 16cm, neck diameter 2.5cm. Roger guérin (1896-1954) is a belgian ceramist (bouffioulx) of great renown of the twentieth century, especially of the art deco period. Passing from the art nouveau period to art deco (between 1915 and 1945), he creates vases and sculptures in "gres sale grand feu" in a single firing (1300 °). He will evolve with talent in the 2 artistic styles of his time. He participated in numerous exhibitions, including the silver medal at the international exhibition of industrial and modern decorative arts in paris in 1925. International recognition, we find him in 1947 at the jensen gallery in new york. His favorite forms are: the ball vase, faceted, geometric (timeless), sculpture.
