The goat is a typical jug of the southern regions of france, but it is also found in spain and portugal. This beautiful little jug has a pear-shaped body and a wide opening at the top that fills it with water. It has a single spout in the upper part of the body, a side handle to hold it while drinking from the "regal" and a handle at the top that allows it to be carried. A lid is placed on top, it is often pierced by a hole, this one had the hole plugged, the old thrift and astute passed a string that was itself knotted at the cove so as not to lose it. This jug was used to bring water from the well and therefore from reservoir to the fireplace, it has a small capacity, about 1l, just like the "gargoulette" this container typical of hot regions has the specialty of keeping the water fresh for a long time. It is made in a porous material, namely clay, water moistens the outer surface of the pot, passing through the pores of the un varnished clay to evaporate, it uses energy, evacuates its own heat while refreshing the inside of the jug. By deduction you guessed it, the goat has varnish only on the upper body and on the beginning of the belly because it facilitates exchanges with the outside because the varnish makes the surfaces waterproof. Pitcher in very good condition despite having crossed several generations, it will be used now only in decoration with a beautiful vintage effect. Weight 1, 065kg. Height 20 cm. Base diameter 13.5cm.
