Old art deco napkin ring in solid silver minerva hallmark 1920-1930

This superb old napkin ring is made of solid silver. Round in shape, it is decorated with an art deco decoration of geometric friezes. The napkin ring is a traditional gift: in the past, in wealthy families, the godmother offered a silver object to the child (hence the expression "to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth). The napkin ring napkin was part of everyday jewelry objects and constituted a safe haven, transmitted to the protégé. This present could be accompanied by an egg cup, a spoon or a timpani.
