Rare lamp base from Maison Charles, France, made around the 1970s. This iconic model features the famous "Corn Ears" decor, combining a golden bronze ear with finely veined silver bronze leaves. The whole piece rests on a square-sectioned architectural base, giving the lamp a particularly elegant sculptural presence. Maison Charles manufactured its lighting fixtures to order, offering various finishes and configurations according to customer preferences. This example showcases an elegant combination of silver bronze and golden bronze, which is less common than the fully gilded versions. The upper double-socket assembly corresponds to an original configuration found on some period examples. A true decorative sculpture when presented without a shade, this lamp base perfectly illustrates the refinement of French design from the 1970s, balancing naturalistic inspiration and neoclassical aesthetics. The shade visible in one of the photographs is shown solely for illustrative purposes to demonstrate the effect in situ. It is not included in the sale. ________________________________________ Technical details. • Designer: Maison Charles. • Manufacturer: Maison Charles, Paris, France. • Period: circa 1970. • Materials: silver bronze, golden bronze, metal elements. • Finish: satin silver bronze and polished golden bronze. ________________________________________ Dimensions. • Height: 86 cm (33.86 in) • Base width: 11 cm (4.33 in) • Base depth: 11 cm (4.33 in) • Weight: 5.5 kg. ________________________________________ Condition.
