Large antique earthenware dish “cul noir” – floral basket decoration – 42 cm I am selling an antique enamelled earthenware dish, hand-decorated in shades of blue, representing a flowered basket in the center. Scalloped edge with geometric and floral frieze. This large dish is a beautiful example of so-called “cul noir” earthenware: the underside is covered with a dark brown enamel, characteristic of certain productions of the 18th and 19th centuries. Dimensions: approximately 36 cm long and 27 cm at the widest point. Condition: very good general condition for its age. Some visible chips on the reverse and fine cracks in the glaze (see photos).
