Wooden bench

This magnificent wooden bench, apparently from the fruit tree, has a wonderful patina! The seat has been polished by everyone who has sat on it over the decades, it was probably a school bench at one time. He has crazy charm! Its legs have a nice shape, all round, like the ends of the bench. He has probably already celebrated his 100th birthday! I cleaned it thoroughly then brushed it liberally with white vinegar (and dried it in the sun). This is my natural method to replace chemical insecticide to treat the relatively numerous beetle holes on this bench. The gimlet holes seem old to me, and therefore not active, but out of conscience I treated them all the same. This bench is still very solid but does not hide its age: various marks, scratches, stains, chips, cracks. Including the most important one which runs along the entire foot from top to bottom, but which was surely repaired a very long time ago, in a very artisanal way, by inserting a metal rod from one side to the other of the crack underfoot. The two parts still move slightly relative to each other, but the bench remains very solid! This is also one of the reasons that pushed me not to touch it, not to add reinforcement. In addition, I find that when a repair is needed and it is so old, it should not be touched because it adds to the charm and history of this bench. And last reason, the wood of a reinforcement would certainly have been different, at least due to the patina of the years and that would have been a shame. It measures 145 cm in length, 45 cm in height, the seat measures approximately 18 cm in width and is 3 cm thick. And the width measured at the feet is 25 cm.
