Constructivist / Cubist 'DS 23' Table Lamp designed by Hungarian designer Vilmos Huszar, a founding member of the Dutch De Stijl movement, in circa 1920. This licensed Limited Edition re-issue was produced by Tecnolumen in c.1980 in a limited run, of which this example is number 37. The lamp, which is in superb vintage condition, consists of a geometric composition of polychrome lacquered wooden blocks and a cylindrical aluminium bulb holder, has it's original Tecnolumen label attached to the base together with its edition number stamped on a brass disc. The lamp is featured in Charlotte & Peter Fiell's seminal book, "1000 Lights, published by Taschen. Very few of these lamps would have been produced and even fewer have survived the past century, so this very limited, later edition offers a rare opportunity to own a truly special, beautiful and very hard to come by piece of design.
