Mid-century modern vase, green glass, Poland, 1970s

A vase produced by Huta Laura in Poland from the 1970s, representing the classic mid-century modern style. Made of uniformly green, semi-transparent glass with a high colour saturation, it catches the eye with its smooth, cylindrical form. The body is gently twisted along its entire height, creating an organic movement further emphasised by the irregular, wavy edge. The lack of decorative patterns enhances the focus on the expressive shape and the nobility of the material – the glass surface is smooth, uniform, and glossy. The wide, massive base features a subtle, hand-formed line, giving the vase an individual character typical of Huta Laura craftsmanship. Condition is very good – original, with no signs of damage or restoration. This glass carries the spirit of the 1970s, when Polish design sought new paths, discovering value in simplicity, geometry, and uncomplicated, saturated colours. The vase, devoid of embellishments, recalls the gesture of old manufacture: the form is the source of expression, and the transparent, deep green absorbs light, giving a sense of calm and restrained energy. The twisted silhouette speaks of the meeting of nature and modernity, and the hand-finished base evokes the sculptural movement of the glassmaker's hand. This model can be displayed solo to highlight its rhythmic, organic shape – on a low console of light wood, a marble top, or on a shelf among modernist books and graphics.
