Pair of bistro chairs luterma. Hand painted with floral motifs. Foldable. Early xxth. Luterma was a brand of an estonian company, based in tallinn (capital of estonia), specializing in the creation and manufacture of wooden furniture. She was one of the pioneers in the manufacture and use of "plywood" as well as other american and german firms, such as thonet. Luterma collaborated with gropius and breuer, prominent members of the baunhaus, an artistic movement of the interwar period, based in weimar (germany) that contributed to the development of design and modern architecture. In 1940, when estonia was occupied by the ussr, the firm a.m. Luther closed its doors. This company participated in one of the most creative movements of the interwar period.
