Sublime and authentic soliflore vase in glazed ceramic, created by the ceramic artist Gabrielle Mackiewicz during the 1950s-1960s. Marked by her training under the famous master Roger Capron in Vallauris, the artist presents here a work of great modernity, combining technical rigour and freedom of form. An organic, sculptural silhouette in a curved "S" shape, pierced with a central open eye at its base. Its resolutely Mid-Century aesthetic recalls the spirit of Vallauris' golden age. A superb work of abstract geometric mosaic patterns, with a fine network of black cloisonné. The colour palette elegantly blends shades of sage green, white, black, and touches of old rose/mauve, all enhanced by a glazed terracotta/beige background. The artist's monogram is hand-painted under the base. A beautiful overall collectible piece. Note a small discreet lack of glaze on the surface of the upper neck (visible in the detail photos), attesting to its age and history, which does not detract from the vase's stunning visual presence and structure. A rare and highly decorative piece, ideal for collectors of 50s/60s ceramics, enthusiasts of the Vallauris movement, or to enhance a vintage and architectural interior.
