Carstens Tönnieshof jug vase

Superb ceramic jug vase, designed by the illustrious designer Dieter Peter for the prestigious West German manufacturer Carstens Tönnieshof in the early 1970s. This piece is a magnificent example of post-war European modernism. The model stands out with its generous lines, perfectly integrated handle, and its striking bright mandarin orange colour, which is very fresh. The front features a rich relief floral decoration representing a stylised four-leaf clover, beautifully highlighted by a brilliant cobalt blue glaze with changing hues, which can also be found on the upper rim and the inside of the neck. The original clay base bears the official relief marking of the manufacturer with the two adjoining house roofs and the mention "W. Germany". A superb decorative showcase piece for ceramic enthusiasts.
