Pair of decorative ornaments in patinated black cast metal, curved in shape, each depicting a draped figure in an antique style, reclining in a landscape. The first figure leans on one arm, with the other arm raised, near a lying lamb. The second holds a sheaf of ears of corn and is accompanied by a bird with outstretched wings. These are two pastoral allegories, perhaps representing the Seasons or Abundance, in the neoclassical spirit. Their curved base indicates that they originally crowned a curved element: a mirror pediment, clock, overdoor, or piece of furniture. Now repurposed as wall objects, placed on a shelf, or integrated into a decorative project, they bring a beautiful sculptural presence. Hollow back from the foundry, original fixing holes at the ends. Sourced from Puglia, in southern Italy. Dimensions (each) Height: 8 cm – Width: 43 cm. Condition. Good used condition. Old black patina with wear, small paint losses, and points of oxidation, consistent with age. No visible breaks or apparent soldering. (to be verified) Material: Cast metal (likely iron), black patina. Style: Neoclassical. Period: 19th century. Provenance: Puglia, Italy. Quantity: Set of 2.
