Exceptional centrepiece bowl in blown and hand-crafted crystal, a masterpiece of French glass art from the 1950s. Its spectacular and organic silhouette irresistibly evokes a manta ray with its wings spread or a butterfly in full flight, reflecting a creative spirit fully rooted in Art Deco aesthetics. The piece rests on a massive, elegantly ribbed conical base, from which graceful scrolls rise to support the body of the bowl. This expands into a wide oval collar with tapered ends, featuring an airy and controlled curve. The crystal, with remarkable clarity and brilliance, showcases a high level of technical virtuosity in its blowing and hot shaping. The base of the piece bears an engraved signature CRISTAL DE VANNES. Overall condition is very satisfactory, with no apparent chips or breaks.
