Since the 18th century, there have been several earthenware factories in saint-amand-les-eaux, including one located on a path leading to a mill: the chemin des loups. Over time, these companies merged, first into “earthenware and porcelain of st-amand – orchies – hamage”, then in 1923 into “manufacture du moulin des loups-hamage”. The company's new brand is a windmill with the name orchies in capitals. Between 1920 and 1970 production increased considerably and nearly 500 people worked there. The last sale of earthenware from the factory took place at the factory on saturday february 13, 1988 for the centenary of the local factory.
