This garden chair is clearly not for everyone: it seems to date from the late 19th or early 20th century and does not hide its age and the intensive use it has undergone since. It should therefore be reserved for a restoration done properly or left as is if you wish to give a very retro, very shabby chic touch to your terrace or conservatory. It has character and originality: its particular, fluid lines with the curved wrought iron frame of the seat and backrest, and the wooden slats inserted directly, without screws, into these U-shaped frames, is very unusual, and I wonder how this was achieved, how the slats were inserted! It is a chair that must have been very high quality and quite expensive at the time. And it is very rare; there can't be many left, as I found only four online, sold together in England and presented as French antiques. It is in generally good condition, still sturdy, the wood is old but not rotten, yet it is in its original state and shows many signs of its hundred years: numerous areas where the paint is missing exposing the metal, it seems to have had several lives as a light green paint is visible beneath the white paint, some superficial corrosion, there may be a missing slat at the front of the seat, it is a bit wobbly probably due to a deformation of the legs, and a lower crossbar has been recently re-welded (shiny metal). It measures 83 cm in maximum height, 42 cm in seat height, 40 cm in maximum width, and approximately 65 cm in maximum depth.
