Postmodern table lamp by the Italian manufacturer Lumen Center Italia based on a design by architect and designer Jean Michel Wilmotte from the 1980s. This is the older, original version with halogen and a more compact base, without an additional plate. The design follows a postmodern design language and plays with basic geometric elements: cylinder, sphere, and semicircle combine here. The large, flat lampshade is striking. The heavy base is designed as a simple cylinder and effortlessly supports the wide-swaying lampshade with its weight. The connection between the shade and the base is designed as a small ball, suggesting a balance support. The lampshade can rotate 360 degrees. In this original version of the lamp, the base with a semicircular disc is always placed at the front, highlighted by a fine joint. The surface is finished in matte black, emphasising the striking geometry of the lamp. The inside of the lampshade is finished in white to ensure better light reflection. The fixture was originally designed by Wilmotte for the French Embassy in Washington DC, hence the name.
