XL 1950s Wooden French Candlestick Table Lamp with Silver Gilt & Acanthus Leaf

A very large vintage table lamp in the form of a very theatrical faux-distressed altar candlestick of baluster form, in wood and gesso, with incised decor and applied carved acanthus leaves, all gilded in white gold with a selective tinted glaze to give the appearance of gold parcel-gilding. It was probably made in france, sometime in the 1950s. The lamp has been rewired with a length of high-quality braided white italian-made twisted flex, with a vintage-style black bakelite inline switch braid. The lamp has some small wear to the gilding and the gesso, but it blends almost seamlessly with the original distressed finish.
