Buffet from the basque country, in oak and chestnut, 18th century. This piece of furniture, also locally called "manka", was present in almost all rural homes in the region. Simple in design and close to folk art, it is composed of shelves in its lower part and 2 doors, and topped with a "chest space" at the top with a lid, which was traditionally used for storing bread. Depending on the affluence of the houses, this furniture could be more or less ornamented, this one is simple in design, a sign of a modest provenance. Completely cleaned and treated, natural wood color finish, stained on the outside (matte transparent), and nourished with linseed oil on the inside. Ingenious closing system using a forged hook (see photo) that can be manipulated from the inside for the lid, left door also closing by hook, right door with lock but this does not work, the 2 doors close using of a centered and pivoting piece of wood. (see photo) very well preserved piece of furniture given its age, with the logical marks of use and the marks of time. Usable as is without problems, and in all types of interiors, "noble" antique furniture also fits very well into contemporary architecture. Dimensions width 133 X height 130 cm X depth 54 cm.
