6 yellow and wood Thonet chairs

All the technicality of curved wood, of which Thonet was the precursor in the 19th century, is put to the test in this chair. The only straight line is located in the tapered front legs, everything else is just curves and play of volumes. The backrest is very welcoming with its perfect inclination and just the right width. The height of the curved wood of the seat combined with the floral shape clearly enriches the line. To finish this description; the thick volumes of the rear leg also curved, and attached to the backrest thanks to wooden dowels, become resolutely refined towards the feet. The pad is covered with a bright yellow striped synthetic material with black edging: five out of six chairs are thinned and show rather regular wear. Small spike marks are noted as well as dark shadows on the wood and a shock. The structure is healthy and solid. The general condition of these extremely rare examples on the market is very good and the appearance of the honey-tinted beech is flattering and warm.
