Nesting tables by Josef Hoffmann for Wittmann, 1980s – Ash wood

Josef Hoffmann nesting tables, model 8890, comprising a set of four in solid ash. Designed for Wittmann, their clean geometric lines give them a timeless character that feels equally at home in a contemporary interior. The four tables nest neatly together and can also be used individually as side tables. Josef Hoffmann designed these nesting tables around 1900. Wittmann has held the exclusive rights to produce Hoffmann’s original furniture designs from his drawings since 1969. This set was purchased new in 1989 from De Sprong Interieurprojecten in Utrecht, then a respected retailer of high-end design furniture. Dimensions when nested: 50 × 40 × 70 cm (W×D×H). Individual dimensions, from largest to smallest: 50 × 40 × 70 cm, 43 × 36.5 × 66.5 cm, 36.5 × 33 × 63 cm, and 29.5 × 29.5 × 59.5 cm (W×D×H). Material: solid ash. The nesting tables are in very good condition. They have been carefully looked after by their previous owner. Over the years, the ash has developed a warm tone and shows only light signs of use consistent with its age. The construction is entirely original, strong and stable.
