Functionalist Wall Lamp by Zukov, Czechoslovakia, 1940s

This Functionalist wall lamp was made by Zukov in Czechoslovakia in the 1940s and carries the manufacturer's mark. A gracefully curved chrome arm rises from a round wall plate and ends in a tapered cup that holds the bulb. The arm slots into a holder on the wall plate. The design is pure Functionalism: clean lines, polished chrome and nothing superfluous. A small push switch on the wall plate lets you turn the lamp on and off directly, and the lamp plugs in with a cord, so no hardwiring is needed. It works equally well as a reading light beside a bed or sofa or as an accent piece in a hallway or study. The lamp is in very good vintage condition, and the chrome has been polished. The lamp has been completely rewired.
