Service in Orange in the style of productions of Vallauris composed a large jug pitcher and 6 cups ceramic, 50s/60s, Africanist shiny enamelled decoration of shooters archery black on gray speckled blue, the bottom of each piece imitating the lava. In perfect condition. The pitcher height: 25cm, height of the cups: 11cm. Weight: 4.3 kg. VALLAURIS is in the sixteenth century that appears in the Vallauris region culinary ceramic making. The arrival of the railway at the end of the 19th marks the beginning of the massive of this production, but the crisis of 1929 expansion and competition from new materials (aluminum, stainless steel...) are a severe blow to the activities of local craft pottery. Ceramic loses its utilitarian function and takes an artistic dimension. This current, already present with the family Massier, develops with Clement, Delphin and Jérôme via the introduction of metallic pigments and color glazes. In 1930, the workshop of Jean Gerbino applies his unique process of colorful land. In 1947, Picasso moved to Vallauris and makes a series of creations that will definitively mark the history of Vallis Aurea at the Madoura workshop. Now, architects and artists (Ramie, Baud, Capron, Derval,...) will converge on the city and offer a wide variety of styles, through their works, opposing all conformism and applying the principles of modernism, combining forms Expressionists and Mediterranean sensibility. This is the golden age of the 1950s that will last for more than twenty years.
