Charming small French painting depicting a lively rural landscape with haystacks, in a peaceful and bright atmosphere. It is executed in oil on canvas, dated 1902 in pencil at the bottom right. On the back is a stamp "Gaetan Dumas, " corresponding to the name of the French painter Gaëtan Dumas. The composition is based on the large rounded shapes of the haystacks, placed in the middle of a field and standing out against the landscape. The vegetation, the shades of the earth and sky, as well as the variations in light, give the whole a beautiful sense of depth and naturalness. The brushstrokes are lively, and the artist's work is exceptional! 👉The original canvas was previously mounted on a stiffer canvas. There are also old creases visible on the surface of the painting. Their presence is quite unique and could suggest that the original canvas may have been folded after its execution, possibly for transport or storage, before being later mounted on a more rigid support. This material characteristic is particularly interesting as it is compatible with the hypothesis of a study painted directly from life, outdoors, and then preserved and consolidated later. The painting is in its original state, with signs of age and wear, and creasing marks. Please take a good look at all the photos in detail, as they are part of the product description! 👉Keep in mind that this is an old work of art; its marks and imperfections make it a unique piece with a history! Dimensions: 28.5 cm long / 21 cm wide. Total weight excluding packaging: 280 grams. This small painting will be magnificent in an office, living room, or bedroom! It will be a true window open to the French countryside! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions; I will be happy to respond!.
