Large old portrait with a parasol, oil on canvas signed, 1917

Large oil painting on old canvas depicting a female portrait with a red parasol, in a post-impressionist style. The work, dated 1917, captivates with its composition and vibrant colours, particularly the contrast between the floral background and the red parasol that structures the scene. Signed in the bottom right “Madeleine Berthon” and dated 1917. A handwritten inscription is also visible on the back (partially legible, possibly related to “Louis Berthon”). Oil on canvas remounted on a frame (visible on the edges), framed in a simple wooden moulding. Dimensions: 67 X 83 cm. Old canvas showing a beautiful patina of time. Dirt and age-related marks. Two small holes in the parasol area at the top right (hardly visible from a distance). Overall remains very decorative with a lot of character. An old work full of charm, ideal for a characterful decoration or an eclectic interior.
