Eleven years later, he was the first tailor of Dior. He participated in the success of what was to be called by a major New York magazine the New Look, in collaboration with Christian Dior. It is thus, accompanied and supported by another great couturier that he himself will become one. In 1950, he bought the house Pascaud, then specialist in costumes of scenes. From then on, he created his own fashion house, and managed both of these activities. Only three years later, his first collection was born. As an innovator and thinking man, he is the forerunner of Ready-to-Wear. Much to the chagrin of the other designers, he will organize a fashion show in a department store, allowing all women to dress like the models of the time. This decision caused him to be excluded from the trade union chamber of haute couture. In the 1950s, haute couture and popular fashion were two things separated by professionals. Pierre Cardin is going to turn everything upside down in his path. Apart from his determination regarding "beautiful outfits for all", he also created a men's line, in 1958, which would revolutionize men's fashion. So he will make men's tailors that can be worn on any occasion. Never forgetting his other activity, the creation of stage costumes. He was then taken to create the clothes of the "Melon Hat and Leather Boots" series, as well as the Beatles' outfits. He had already created the costumes for the film "Beauty and the Beast", by Jean Cocteau. Winner of more than a hundred awards, this great gentleman of fashion sees his models exhibited in the greatest museums and is one of the 5 most well-known French in the world. Businessman: in the 1960s, in order to make all his creations accessible, he created the licensing system. He draws, industries manufacture and give him a share of the profits. A food astronomer and lover of life and art, he bought maxim's restaurant in Paris in 1995 and developed the brand worldwide.
