Carpet Azilal, 235 x 110

Azilal carpets or the Azilals, as their name suggests, come from the region steep Azilal, located in the remote and very difficult to access of the High Atlas mountains, South of the city of Beni Mellal and about 180 km to the North-East of Marrakech. Exclusively for women in this region, Azilal carpets are made by alternating patterns consisting of a knotted line and one or two lines woven from raw wool, according to a cultural ritual passed down from mother to daughter for some generations.
