Awarded the Designer of the Year award in 1955, the Diamond chair made by Harry Bertoia is one of the lightest and best-selling armchairs in the history of furniture. Published by KNOLL from 1952, this emblematic piece is more like a sculpture than an armchair. It gets its name “little diamond” from its curved diamond shape. Harry Bertoia's sculptural approach, which is reflected in the attention paid to volumes, will make this chair a clear symbol of modernity, and will give it immediate success which has never dried up since. Made from steel wires welded point by point by hand, the back of the chair with its mesh appearance is supported by metal legs - a technique which gives this metal armchair a striking impression of flexibility and lightness. Composed of a mesh structure of steel wires welded point by point, the model presented here is a first edition (1950s/1960s) and is therefore not engraved (KNOLL engravings from 1995). It features a black finish. Its particularly resistant finish allows it to be used as an indoor or outdoor chair.
