Large oil on canvas by alan simpson, english painter (1941 - 2007). He lived on the south coast of england and drew his inspiration from the many ports along the english coast. He loved the sea deeply and was mainly a marine painter. He exhibited for several years in the united states and canada. In 1979 he was elected a fellow of the royal society of marine artists. His diploma painting is in the permanent collection of the national naval museum, greenwich. The canvas is in perfect condition and measures 85x55 cm and 102x72 cm with the frame.
