To pass the time, sailors carved these boxes with knives (the marks and labels of which are still present in places) to create objects, generally religious. Here, an altar dedicated to a painted bisque statuette of saint anthony of padua, in excellent condition. Folk art / tramp art. Unusual piece, both simple and skillfully made dimensions: 35.5x19x10.9cm.
