Gaston Poisson, French raw oak cabinetmaker
Gaston Poisson is a French cabinetmaker active in the 20th century, whose production of solid oak furniture fits within the tradition of French sculpted wood from the first half of the century. Sideboards, chests, bookshelves and chairs cut from solid oak, with turned or sculpted feet, with deep patina: his work dialogues with that of Charles Dudouyt and belongs to this vein of French rustic brutalist furniture that was long underestimated, and which today regains a deserved visibility on the vintage market.
Gaston Poisson sideboards and chests in solid oak remain the cabinetmaker's most identifiable pieces. Vintage French furniture to find for those wanting a massive, organic piece in the pre-war rustic brutalist vein.
