Luigi Massoni, architect of the Italian object
Luigi Massoni (1930-2013) is an Italian architect and designer whose work covers every field of Italian industrial design from the post-war boom. An interior architect, furniture designer, artistic director of Alessi from 1972 to 1996, he signed for Guzzini, Boffi, Tappetti, Forma Nova and many others a production where formalist rigour serves the everyday. Opal plastic lamps, sculptural armchairs, tableware: his signature covers the entire scale of the object, from spoon to kitchen.
Luigi Massoni lamps for Guzzini in opal plastic, and his furniture for Boffi and Forma Nova, remain the designer's most identifiable pieces. Italian vintage furniture to find for those wanting a discreet but accomplished seventies signature.
