Photograph of the Venus of the Esquiline Palazzo dei Conservatori 27x39 cm

An old black and white photograph depicting the Venus of the Esquiline (Venere dell'Esquilino), a famous ancient Roman sculpture housed in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, now part of the Capitoline Museums in Rome. The original printed legend at the bottom reads: "ROMA – Palazzo dei Conservatori – Venere dell'Esquilino". This print likely belongs to an Italian documentary series dedicated to the masterpieces of Roman collections, released in the mid-20th century. The presentation – black background, typographic legend, and museum framing – evokes the works of specialised publishers such as Fratelli Alinari, Domenico Anderson, or Brogi, although a definitive attribution cannot be established due to the absence of a stamp or publisher's number. The piece is presented under glass with an ivory mount and a period gilded wooden frame. It serves as an elegant wall decoration for a classic interior, a library, or a cabinet of curiosities. Frame dimensions: 27 X 39 cm. Overall good condition. Light signs of use and minor wear on the frame, consistent with its age.
