Maison Lecan presents this coffee table by Robert and Jean Cloutier, made in the 1950s, featuring an enamelled lava top and a black lacquered metal structure. It is a referenced model by the Cloutier brothers, which can now be found at the Les Roches Rouges hotel in Saint-Raphaƫl, where it integrates beautifully into the decor. Its strong point is the top. Two large enamelled lava slabs in shades of orange, ochre, and brown, with thick enamels that form a raised crust in places. Carved reserves in the material are filled with turquoise melted glass, cracked within the mass: a long strip, a circle, a square, and four small tiles. No Cloutier top is the same as another, and this one is particularly rich. The slabs are set in a black lacquered metal frame, resting on four welded straight legs. A simple line that allows the ceramic to take centre stage. The table has been fully restored. The left slab has a very slight crack running its entire height. We have bonded the two slabs onto a wooden panel with a very strong adhesive: the crack is stabilised and will not move again. It is barely visible to the naked eye, but it is indeed present. Dimensions: Length 103 cm, Depth 53 cm, Height 35 cm. Ref LDP: 20261021-001.
