A decorative pair of large King Charles Spaniel dogs in majolica, made of glazed terracotta and dating from the mid-20th century, around 1950-1970. Modelled after the iconic Victorian Staffordshire mantle dogs, these sculptures depict seated King Charles Spaniels with long finely moulded fur, expressive amber eyes, black snouts, and hand-painted gold accents highlighting the texture of the fur and the ornamental collars. Their generous size and lively expressions make them particularly striking decorative objects. Finished in a glossy white majolica glaze with golden highlights, the pair offers a refined interpretation of the classic English Staffordshire model while reflecting the craftsmanship of mid-century European ceramics. Their sculptural quality also makes them suitable for traditional interiors, Hollywood Regency, English country houses, or eclectic settings. The figures bear no markings on the underside. Dimensions. Height: 35 cm. Width: 30 cm. Depth: 15 cm. Very good vintage condition, with slight wear consistent with age and use. Minor scratches on the gold decoration and small manufacturing irregularities characteristic of hand-finished majolica. No visible damage.
