Covered vase Londi for Bitossi, Rimini Blue, ceramic, Italy, 1960

Large covered vase in ceramic from the Rimini Blue series, designed by Aldo Londi (1911-2003) for the Bitossi factory in Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy. Produced in the 1960s. Height 41 cm including the lid. Body made of refractory clay, entirely hand-incised: fine horizontal lines across the entire surface, a band of chevron geometric patterns at mid-height. Dome lid with radiating grooves and a spherical handle. Characteristic cobalt blue and green crystalline glaze from the original period. Deep green glazed base. A firing crack is visible on the base, an inherent mark of handmade production, with no impact on sturdiness. Very good overall condition.
