This lithograph, “The Magic of the Hours - Twilight,” is signed Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the lower right corner. The work is authentic and antique. Regarding its condition, note a pinhole in the margin, some creases, small stains, and an ink mark. On the lithograph itself, there are small brown and white spots. The lithograph is very fresh in color; once framed, most of the imperfections will be barely visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864–1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career in drawing, then moved on to intaglio engraving, specifically etching, in 1882. Simultaneously, in 1886, he embarked on a career as a director and set designer, creating shadow puppet shows at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing them with highly innovative colored sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself as a leading figure in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted approximately a thousand watercolors).
