Bench / antique oak chest, closed Breton bed panels - North Finistère

Rare and authentic Breton bench-chest, made from the carved panels of an old closed bed, originating from North Finistère (Plouénan). The high backrest, shaped and carved with traditional Breton motifs featuring a central rosette, comes directly from the façade of the original closed bed. The curved armrests and the chest seat (with internal storage) complete this characterful piece. This type of furniture, derived from the repurposing of huchers and closed beds that furnished Breton peasant interiors, is now sought after for its authenticity and history. The patina and the differences in shade between the backrest (wood from the closed bed) and the lower part testify to this history and its antiquity.
