Renovated vintage children's desk, Scandinavian style, 1950s-60s.

This children's desk of French origin dates back to the 1950s-60s and accurately embodies the functional elegance of post-war school furniture. At the intersection of the spirit of school furniture from that era and modernist design, it captivates with its clean lines and attention to detail. Its particularly successful asymmetrical composition is one of its strong points: on the left, an open space for legs, topped with a low shelf for notebooks and books; on the right, a suspended unit with three stacked drawers, featuring slightly slanted cascading fronts that can be opened without handles. This composition creates a harmonious visual rhythm while providing ample storage capacity for such a compact piece of furniture. The wood grain, bright and delicate, is revealed on the rounded-edged top, whose exposed plywood edge adds to the character of the piece. Its light and warm hue is subtly enhanced by the metal tube frame, preserved in its original colour, a deep green that provides an elegant contrast. The legs, made up of slightly flared feet and curved braces supporting the top, reinforce the industrial aesthetic of the furniture while giving it a beautiful visual lightness. Some visible signs of wear on the frame, as shown in the photos, testify to its history and add to its charm. The whole piece is perfectly proportioned and highly coherent. Versatile, this desk can be used as a children's desk in a bedroom, hallway, or living room, adding a structured and timeless vintage touch. It has been fully sanded and then protected with a light oak matte varnish to reveal the richness of its wood.
