An antique circular ashtray and pocket tray made of ceramic, created by the potter Eugène Alaphilippe (known as "Charliton") (1879-1959) in Verneuil-sin-Igneraie (Indre), in the heart of the Vallée Noire. Dating from the years 1920-1935 (Art Deco period), it features a beautiful glaze in deep blue tones, enhanced by slight protrusions of raw clay. The base is left raw in red terracotta. It bears the handwritten and incised signature under the base: "Alaphilippe Verneuil Indre". The object measures 14 cm in diameter, just over 2 cm in height, weighs 506g, and has 3 notches for cigarettes. It is in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks, and has never been used as an ashtray.
