Beautiful and rare relief by Harald Isenstein, for Michael Andersen (The Shield with the 3 Fish) Denmark 1960-70s. Without chips, cracks or other defects. It measures 30 cm in height, 20.5 cm in width, 3.5 cm in depth and weighs approximately 1700 grams. Harald Isenstein (1898-1980) was born in Hanover as the son of Jewish parents. He showed his special talent for design early on and was admitted to Die Königliche Akademie der Künste in Berlin in 1917. However, his studies were interrupted when he was sent to the front at the end of World War I. After the war he was very active in the vibrant art scene of the twenties in Berlin and exhibited several times at the famous Berliner Sessions. Together with his wife Hildegard he had to flee Nazism in the summer of 1933, where they settled in Copenhagen. Isenstein is known for his many portrait busts of famous people such as Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Karen Blixen and the Danish Queen Margrethe. Will be packaged securely and shipped with insurance.
