Rustic Farmhouse Folk Art Painted Bridal Cabinet 1834

Antique bridal wardrobe from 1834, originating from Franconia in southern Germany. The heavy, lived-in character and the original paintings give the whole a special appearance. Both the design and the painting are simple and primitive, but authentic and a typical example of folk art from the region. This piece is richly and colourfully decorated with various colours and motifs, with many flower heads and tendrils. The base colour is grey-blue. The wardrobe has been professionally checked throughout, with attention to originality and character. The construction is solid, the painting is worn but preserved, and the patina has been retained. The layout consists of three shelves. The wardrobe closes with the original, working lock. Old, sporadically present woodworm traces have been checked and treated. Bridal wardrobes like this are rarely encountered. The age, patina and the way this wardrobe is painted make it an exclusive piece of furniture.
