Vintage serving dish Villeroy & Boch – Floral decor – French earthenware

Charming small vintage oval serving dish by Villeroy & Boch, made of French earthenware, featuring a delicate polychrome floral decoration. This lovely piece is appealing with its bouquets of flowers in refined colours, its ivory background, green border, and elegant scrolled handles. Stamp on the back: • Villeroy & Boch – France. • Made in France – Saar. • Decor "Geometrie Union" • Number 1562. The mention "Villeroy & Boch – France – Saar" helps to date this piece to after the First World War, when Saar was under French administration. This indication was likely used between 1919 and 1935, during which time Saar was administered by the League of Nations, before its annexation to Germany in 1935. Condition: Good overall appearance in the photos, with a lovely antique patina. There is a slight crazing of the glaze, typical of old earthenware.
