Swedish Birch Chest of Drawers, 1950s

1950s Swedish birch chest of drawers with three lockable drawers, metal bail handles and splayed tapered legs. Mid-20th-century Swedish chest of drawers, veneered in birch with a bright, shimmering figure, a wood that features widely in Nordic furniture of the period. The top has rounded front corners and a soft edge that flows into the sides. The three drawers, each with a keyhole escutcheon, are fitted with metal bail handles with ball finials; the drawer interiors are pine. Splayed, tapered legs lighten the volume, in the vocabulary of post-war Scandinavian modernism. Keys not included. Good condition. It may show signs of age and use.
