pair of Gothic decorative bookends in brass 1920

A pair of small French bookends from circa 1920, Gothic-inspired, richly decorated with a griffin in the centre. The griffins stand on a throne. A rare and highly decorative piece due to its finely pierced decoration resembling a stained glass window. Natural wear related to the age of the object. The patina is nuanced with traces and spots of oxidation. The brass has been cleaned and polished; however, some parts still show signs of oxidation. Dimensions of one bookend: Height 17cm.
