Octagonal vanity mirror 1950

Octagonal chain mirror (often referred to as a "barber's mirror" when smaller, or simply a wall courtesy mirror) dating from 1940/1950. Length 45 cm / Height 37 cm. In Transition or Classic style. The frame features floral motifs and repetitive scrollwork that evoke 19th-century European decorative arts. The frame is made of wood and silvered stucco. The back is made of compressed wood or fibreboard, with stencilled inscriptions. The glass is heavily spotted (oxidation of the silver backing), giving it the highly sought-after "antique" look today.
