A remarkable Danish secretary bookcase model HU-9, designed by Poul Hundevad and manufactured by Hundevad & Co. From the 1960s. Made of richly veined rosewood veneer, the piece features a particularly expressive and carefully matched grain pattern on the sliding doors. The upper section offers generous open shelves for books, art, and decorative objects. A lockable drop-down front opens to form a practical writing surface and reveals an interior fitted with several compartments for documents, including characteristic fine horizontal trays on the left and open shelves on the right. The lower cabinet provides additional concealed storage behind two sliding doors with integrated wooden handles. Resting on elegant tapered legs, this large, highly functional piece combines storage, display, and workspace in a refined example of Danish modern design. Condition. Good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. Some marks and discolourations are present on the interior writing surface, including a distinct darker liquid ring mark. The drop-down front, lock, and sliding doors function correctly. The back bears the original stamps, including the official Danish Furnituremakers’ Quality Control mark. Dimensions. Width: 138 cm. Depth: 43 cm. Height: 202 cm.
