Beautiful and important Louis XV style walnut bookcase, dating from the early 20th century. This piece of furniture stands out for its elegant curved silhouette, rich carved ornamentation, and fine craftsmanship, typical of traditional French furniture. The front opens with two large glazed doors at the top, allowing for the display of books, objects, or collections, and two moulded panels at the bottom, providing balance and elegance to the whole. The top of the piece is crowned with a wide, richly carved curved pediment, decorated with a floral basket and scrolls, an emblematic motif of the Louis XV style. The lower rail is also carved with a decoration of a vase and foliage, resting on curved feet ending in scrolls, characteristic of the style. The interior is fitted with several adjustable shelves, offering ample storage capacity for books, tableware, or decorative objects. The piece retains its original lock with key, as well as its old iron brackets, attesting to its authenticity. The back is fully panelled, demonstrating careful cabinetmaking, including on the non-visible parts. With its significant proportions and refined decoration, this cabinet can serve as a library, display case, or decorative storage unit in a classic, antique, or chic country interior.
