6 Hans J. Wegner CH36 dining chairs in oak, 1970s Denmark

A remarkably cohesive set of six CH36 dining chairs designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1962 and produced in 1974. The chairs feature solid oak frames with a warm, richly patinated oiled finish, as well as seats made of hand-woven Danish paper cord. The CH36 reflects Wegner's characteristic combination of exceptional craftsmanship, structural clarity, and organic form. Its understated construction and honest use of materials were partly influenced by the simplicity and functional ideals of Shaker furniture, translated here into a resolutely modern Danish language. This exceptionally beautiful vintage set retains its original production date of 1974, with three chairs bearing the original silver label from Carl Hansen & Søn. The oak frames have been carefully cleaned and re-oiled, preserving their rich natural colour and developed patina. The seats have been professionally re-woven in our workshop using traditional Danish paper cord. HxWxD: 79 cm X 52 cm X 45 cm X 43.5 cm.
