Painted Folk Art Marriage Cabinet

Beautiful antique pine bridal cabinet. This cabinet originates from southern Germany and dates from around 1850. It has been restored and repainted at some point, though not in the original way and using traditional craftsmanship. The colorful floral panels and the soft pink marbled paintwork throughout give the piece a very rustic and romantic appearance. The cabinet is medium-sized and has shelves inside. The doors are lockable with a lock and key. Minor signs of wear consistent with its age are visible, though nothing out of the ordinary. It was once customary to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a stateroom on the farm, rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. Despite the later paintwork, this piece of furniture is in no way inferior in appearance to other examples. This makes it attractively priced for the customer. 180cm high, 121cm wide, 53cm deep.
